This year, select students from each homeroom helped to decorate the event's banner, and others volunteered to represent their homerooms in a dance contest. For Eighth Grader Jewel Datri, these two activities were her favorite events of the night.

Throughout the evening, the eighth graders also participated in a variety of games, including Ships and Sailors, Decade Trivia Relay Race and Swap Game, during which they sat in a circle and passed gifts from left to right on queue with Dabdoub's lyrical direction.

By the end of the event, the eighth graders had also collected over 400 pairs of socks to the Harry Thompson Center, a shelter for the poor and homeless in downtown New Orleans.
